ABOUT THE 5K RUN
The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and volunteers from the Diane McGovern Fund have joined forces to put together a 5K run and Fun Run on Saturday, April 16, 2011. This 5K event is a collaboration of the YMCA and volunteers from our local community and schools. The Y is committed to offering a variety of programs promoting health and wellness. To complement a pedometer initiative involving 12,000 members of the community for the past three years, the Y is looking to expand its outreach of activity to the children and families of Fanwood and Scotch Plains. Local school teachers and students have come together to rally behind Diane McGovern, an eighteen-year veteran teacher at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and her extended fight against Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC).
The day of the race will also feature a food court and informational and vendor booths. | |
